Restoration
Processing of scientific collection material
Natural history collections can provide valuable insights into the former species composition of an area. The professional storage of such collections and the preservation of old collection material are therefore extremely important. However, the poor state of preservation of a collection does not necessarily mean that it has lost its value. It is often possible to restore such collections, for example by renewing insect boxes, re-stretching specimens or replacing old, rusty insect pins. As historical collections (whether of a scientific or private nature) usually provide the only possible insight into the former occurrence of a species, they are of inestimable value to science and should be maintained and preserved whenever possible!
Our services for the restoration of natural science collections* include
